The Department of Family Practice exists to improve the health of the people of British Columbia. We are a dispersed department with numerous distributed sites, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Midwifery Programs and an increasingly active and distributed research program. The Postgraduate Program has teaching and residency sites in Vancouver, Prince George, Victoria, Chilliwack, Nanaimo and Kelowna as well as a more dispersed rural program throughout BC and Yukon. The Undergraduate program has urban, suburban, rural and regional sites spread throughout the province. There are currently over 4000 clinical faculty members, 100 staff members and 30 academic faculty members.

Within the Department, we offer numerous career opportunities for faculty and staff, and encourage you to browse the postings on our Careers page.

Commitment to a Respectful Environment

Our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and anti-racism: In addition to the mandatory training through Workday, the Department of Family Practice encourages all employees to review and stay up to date with the latest EDI and anti-racism resources at UBC. The Faculty of Medicine’s Respectful Environments, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion website has many resources and events that are aligned with Anti-Racism and Inclusive Excellence at UBC and UBC’s Equity and Inclusion Office.
