Special Projects Site Faculty, Vancouver Fraser Site

Together with the site directors, portfolio directors and other site faculty, work on special projects addressing areas of need that have been identified by the educational site. 

For the 2024/25 academic year, the areas of need are as follows: 

  • Seek out further educational opportunities for residents in identified areas of need. Along with the Site Coordinator, liaise with preceptors, clinics and hospital administration staff to establish new core rotation opportunities. 
  • Review and update our current elective list.
  • Seek out new elective opportunities for residents.
  • Establish new and strengthen existing relationships with various Divisions of Family Practice. Look for areas of collaboration such as new preceptor development and funding opportunities.
  • The above responsibilities may include travel across the Lower Mainland and meetings with external stakeholders at times, including after-hours. 

Ongoing Responsibilities

  • Attendance at regular Site Faculty meetings or Site Residents’ Education Committee meetings (virtual/in-person, once per month).
  • Attendance at Site Retreat (in-person, once per year). 
  • Participation in the Site Level Competency Committee (SLCC) and attendance at SLCC meetings. Undertake necessary preparation for meetings (paid separately). 
  • Regular attendance at Site events (eg. Social events, orientation, scholarship day, graduation etc.).       

Program Requirements

  • Participation (maximum 8 hours per year) in the collaborative resident selection process both at the Program level and at the Site level, as well as department-wide functions of the UBC Department of Family Practice.

Reporting

  • The Site Faculty reports to their Site Directors.  

Qualifications

  • Membership and certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
  • Eligible for licensure in B.C.
  • Educational and administrative experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability in teaching and working with residents.

Remuneration and Term

  • $19,250 per annum
  • Term: 1-year term, with possibility for renewal.
  • Time commitment is expected to be just over one-half day per week, but may vary depending on the activities involved.
