Experiences of maternal mental health in a primary care setting

Activity Category

Team-based care, systematic review.

Description

The Family Practice research landscape has changed in the last couple of decades, in particular towards encouraging interdisciplinary (and team-based) care, especially in primary care and related fields. We want to describe the 1. changes (if any) within the UBC Department of Family Practice to better understand research patterns (e.g., research themes and topics); and 2. social werkof research teams across British Columbia. To our knowledge, few studies are published on this topic, thus this preliminary work will help build capacity to understand research topics (themes) are, who is engaged with these themes, and what is the (inter) connectedness of the research collaborations.

This project is designed to inform a project to create a visual representation of research social networks for UBC Family Practice. It also aims to provide an opportunity for students to develop knowledge and develop skills in searching for peer-reviewed evidence; identify software and strategies to visually represent social network maps; and practice writing skills to draft a prototype for conducting a social network analysis based on publicly available data (such as publications, grants, etc.). In practice, in this project, the students will work with the UBC Family Practice Research Office to develop and test a prototype for social network analysis of Department members’ research.
