Lecturer — Midwifery (Victoria)

The Midwifery Program invites applications for a full-time lecturer (1.0 FTE) to be part of the newly-developing Vancouver Island cohort for a five-year term.

This individual will work under the direction of the Director of the Midwifery Program and reporting to the Head, Department of Family Practice. They will engage in teaching and evaluation activities. This includes course-based lectures, seminars and tutors, individual and group discussions, and supervision of student’s work. The Lecturer will directly facilitate and enhance the overall classroom experience for students. Additionally, the incumbent will provide mentorship and training to undergraduate learners. The majority of assigned coursework will be for undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Midwifery program, although assigned courses and deliverables may vary. The candidate will be working in collaboration with other course leads, undergraduate program leads and the Director. The successful candidate will participate in relevant service activities within the Department.

The successful candidate will be part of a new Midwifery teaching team based on Vancouver Island and teach at identified hospital sites in Victoria, BC. The successful candidate will liaise with midwifery program faculty on Vancouver Island to develop clinical experiences for UBC BMw midwifery students. The incumbent will also receive formal mentorship from other faculty members including the clinical placement lead, associate professor of teaching, assistant professor of teaching and program staff.
