New Hybrid Agreement for Staff

All eligible staff who participate in UBC’s hybrid work program must complete a new Hybrid Work Agreement in Workday including those who already have a previous agreement in place. For step-by-step instructions to complete the new agreement, please visit HERE.

New to UBC Connections pilot program launches in November

We’re excited to announce the launch of a new onboarding program for Vancouver-based faculty and staff within their first year of being hired at UBC. The New to UBC Connections program is a self-directed, cohort-based program that will run from November 2023 to May 2024. Please visit HERE for details.

Auto-termination of Contingent Employee Contracts

Starting on November 1st, contingent worker contracts will auto-terminate on the end date unless extended. Please ensure that the extensions are processed prior to the contract end date to ensure that contingent workers have access to UBC systems. Thrive UBC!

As a UBC community, let’s Learn about, Talk about and Explore ways to support our mental health. Fostering and maintaining mental health is a year-round pursuit, and UBC recognizes that it plays a crucial role in the ability to live, work, and learn well— whether on campus or at home. A variety of in-person and virtual Thrive events will ensure students, faculty, staff, and community members have access to resources wherever they are. Thrive begins from November 1st to 30th. Reminder

Pay Transparency Act coming into effect November 1st

Starting from November 1st, UBC job postings must include the expected pay or pay range as per BC’s Pay Transparency Act. For more details, please visit the Pay Transparency Laws in B.C. page on the official website of the Government of British Columbia.

The Working Mind Virtual: Mental Health Training for Employees (November 22nd, 9 am-12 pm)

The Working Mind is an evidence-based training program designed to address and promote mental health and reduce stigma in a workplace setting, established by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. It includes easily applied scenario-based lessons, videos of people with lived experience of mental illness, reference guides, and practical handouts. Please visit HERE for the event details.

Disability Inclusion in Hiring (November 28th, 10:00 am-11:00 am)

In the week recognizing the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we invite you to join Inclusion BC’s Sheldon Kitzul to learn more about the Ready Willing and Able Program which connects employers with job seekers with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism.
