The Department of Family Practice within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a part-time (0.2 FTE) position of Director, Rural Scholars Program. The Director, Rural Scholars Program will provide leadership in the field of rural primary care research for the Rural Scholars Program. The Rural Scholars Program has been created to provide an opportunity for rural clinicians to develop skills in scholarship and leadership. The program takes a broad approach to scholarship and can encompass any category of scholarship: discovery, integration, application/engagement and education. The Rural Scholars Program is funded through the distributed support funds of the Rural Doctors’ UBC Chair in Rural Health provided by the Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues in partnership with the Department of Family Practice at UBC and the Rural Coordination Centre of British Columbia. The program will provide some travel and scholarship training support.
Reporting directly to the UBC Chair in Rural Health, and oversight from the Head of Department, the Director, Rural Scholars Program will require a time commitment of approximately one day per week (0.2 FTE) for a 1 year initial term, with an opportunity to renew. The compensation will be $35,000 per annum at 0.2 FTE.
