Lead, Family Practice Faculty Development (UGME)

The University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Provincial Government, is committed to training the health professionals of the future.  The Lead, Family Practice Faculty Development (UGME) contributes to the leadership and development of faculty development initiatives that support family practice in the Undergraduate Medical Education Program (UGME).

The Lead, Family Practice Faculty Development (UGME) reports to the Associate Dean, Faculty Development, UBC Faculty of Medicine and works closely to provide strategic leadership and broker faculty development programs and initiatives that support family practice preceptors in their roles as teachers in the undergraduate medical education program; works closely with the Family Practice and Integrated Clinical Clerkship (ICC) UGME educational leads to identify and align opportunities to create, coordinate, and roll-out new and existing initiatives that support family practice teaching across teaching sites in British Columbia, with a particular focus on rural areas; create an environment that promotes the Faculty’s values of respect, integrity, compassion, collaboration and equity where civility, diversity, opportunity, and inclusion are valued and central to all endeavours; and contribute to and foster a positive and safe working and learning environment where support and recognition is provided for faculty and staff and professionalism standards are maintained by all.

The successful candidate will hold an MD or PhD in a health-related discipline. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine education program; demonstrate commitment to inclusive excellence and applies an equity and inclusion framework to their work; demonstrate ability to build, manage and maintain positive and productive relationships across cultural differences; demonstrate ability to effectively communicate and interact with empathy, understanding and, respect of diverse and divergent perspectives and behaviours; establish collaborative leadership skills and ability to work effectively with learners, trainees, faculty and administrative leadership; have administrative experience; excellent organizational and time management skills, excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative negotiation skills; experience with living and working in a rural area an asset.
